What You’ll Be Doing

  • Design and deliver elite-level strength & conditioning programs
  • Oversee training sessions across senior and junior squads
  • Manage nutrition, supplementation, and off-leg rehabilitation protocols
  • Monitor and analyse performance data using GPS and other technologies
  • Collaborate with coaching and medical staff to optimize player development

What We’re Looking For

  • 2+ years experience in semi or professional rugby league environments
  • Deep knowledge of modern training methodologies: strength, cardio, speed, and nutrition
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Strong proficiency in performance software and data analysis

Mandatory Requirements

  • Australian Strength and Conditioning Association (ASCA) Level 2 Coach Accreditation
  • Bachelor’s Degree with emphasis in the sports/exercise science
  • First Aid, CPR certification

Position Vacancy: Football Operations Manager

Townsville and Districts Mendi Blackhawks Rugby League Football Club

The Townsville Blackhawks RLFC, a respected semi-professional rugby league club competing in the Hostplus Cup, is seeking an experienced and strategic leader to join our team as Football Operations Manager (FOM).

About the Role

Reporting to the CEO of Brothers Leagues Club, the Football Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of football operations for the Townsville Blackhawks. This pivotal role requires a high level of leadership, strategic planning, and operational oversight to ensure the club’s continued success both on and off the field.

The FOM will manage player and staff recruitment, performance environments, match-day logistics, financial administration, and community engagement, while also contributing to broader rugby league development initiatives across the region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the operational functions of the Blackhawks football program
  • Develop and implement strategic plans for player and coaching development
  • Oversee recruitment, contract negotiations, and player welfare
  • Coordinate match-day operations, travel logistics, and training schedules
  • Manage budgets and financial reporting in alignment with club objectives
  • Represent the club at Queensland Rugby League (QRL) and RLTD meetings
  • Strengthen relationships with stakeholders, sponsors, and the wider community

Essential Criteria

  • Demonstrated experience in sports administration or football operations
  • Strong understanding of rugby league and its development pathways
  • Proven leadership and team management capabilities
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage complex logistics and multi-stakeholder environments
  • Financial acumen and experience with budgeting and reporting
  • Commitment to player welfare and high-performance culture

Desirable Attributes

  • Experience working within semi-professional or professional sporting environments
  • Established networks within rugby league or related sporting codes
  • Familiarity with QRL and RLTD governance and competition structures
