Mendi Blackhawks Team Up with Share House and The Good Box to Inspire Local Youth

Friday, August 1, 2025

On Monday, 28 July, the Mendi Blackhawks proudly partnered with Share House Townsville and The Good Box for a powerful afternoon of connection and conversation. Players and staff visited Share House to share their personal journeys, focusing on the challenges they’ve faced and the resilience required to overcome them.

The visit aimed to inspire local youth by showing that setbacks are a part of life—and that with the right mindset and support, they can be overcome.

James Tamou, Blackhawks Player and Community Engagement Manager, shared:

“Recently I had the pleasure to sit down and chat with clients from the Share House/Good Box. I shared my struggles and also some techniques I’ve learned over the years to overcome setbacks, including the importance of purpose. These tools have helped me and in my role at the Blackhawks as a community engagement person, where I look to teach the importance of overcoming challenges and look to inspire.”

The Mendi Blackhawks remain committed to supporting young people in our community through real conversations, positive role modelling, and meaningful partnerships. We’re thrilled to be part of an amazing initiative and look forward to continuing the collaboration for many years to come!
