Blackhawks Celebrate NAIDOC Week with Local Primary School

Friday, July 11, 2025

As part of our ongoing commitment to community engagement and cultural awareness, two of our Blackhawks staff; James Tamou and Jaelen Feeny, attended St Clares Catholic School with everyone’s favourite inflatable target. The visit took place the week leading into the student’s mid-year break providing the opportunity to take part in their NAIDOC Week celebrations.

It was a great way to help educate and celebrate the importance of NAIDOC Week with the next generation. Our staff hosted a fun and interactive activity, asking students: “What is the importance of NAIDOC Week?” The kids were eager to participate, offering thoughtful answers about recognising and respecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history, culture, and achievements.

Prizes were handed out to students who gave insightful responses, making the session both engaging and memorable. The day was a meaningful way to celebrate culture, spark important conversations, and continue building strong relationships with our community.

We thank the school for having us and look forward to continuing our support of NAIDOC Week and youth education in the region.
