Welcome Amanda King

Monday, January 13, 2025

Amanda King joins the Mendi Blackhawks Staff as the new Health and Wellbeing Officer. With years of experience in this industry having come from Cronulla Sharks, she made the move with them to Queensland during the Covid Season and never went back. In 2023 Amanda worked with the Women’s team at Wynnum Seagulls and has heaps of experience in the industry.

“I am usually at games so I will go into the sheds with the injured players, listen to what the doctor is saying and if it is a concussion I will stay there with them while they are having their testing done” King said.

“If it is a knee or something like that, I will get their phone and make sure they are supported while they call their families. If a player is taken to hospital then either I will find their parents or partner in the crowd or call them to let them know what is going on.”

Amanda’s support goes beyond just in the shed, she reaches out to families to offer any assistance they may need during times of toughness. She will be the point of call for our players in the 2025 season for and wellbeing or health advice or support.

During the NRL Covid Season Amanda remained in Queensland at Gold Coast and had a break from footy, she has since moved to Townsville to be with her family and grandkids and is excited about this new opportunity for her to move back into the Wellbeing space. It is great to have you on board Amanda and we look forward to the year ahead.
