Cyril Connell Cup – In Squad Trials

Friday, November 15, 2024

Over the past 3 weeks the Cyril Connell Cup (U17 Males) Squad has been training with a large group of young players from around the region. All of whom are looking to be apart of the Cyril Connell Cup team in 2025.

After falling short in the 2024 Cyril Connell Cup Grand Final, Nathan Norford (Head Coach) and the team are looking to keep a sharp squad next year and hopefully win the comp in 2025!

“We started with over 80 young players from around our region to come together to train in game like scenarios and learn some fundamental aspects of the game. The squad has been training for the past 3 weeks and the squad has been slowly reducing to get 3 teams to play out full games yesterday.” – Nathan Norford says, Head Coach of Cyril Connell Cup U17 Males Team.

Yesterday the young players had a chance to put their hard work to use when they had ‘In Squad Trials’ to determine a squad that will train up till Christmas.

“It was 3 x 20 thirds with the teams rotating giving them an opportunity to showcase what they had. We have reduced the squad to 35 who will train up until Christmas.” – Nathan Norford

We look forward to seeing these young men continue to put in the hard work on and off the field in the 2025 competition.
