Welcoming Joseph Delle to the Mendi Blackhawks for the 2025 Season.
Let’s get to know him
What’s your brief footy background?
“I’m originally from Canberra and a Raiders junior and then I signed with the West Tigers for SG Ball and had a couple of years there. Earlier this year I had a late switch to the Bulldogs and then ended up getting injured and had the rest of the season off.”
Your relationship with Mendi Blackhawks coach Terry Campese was part of why you signed, how do you know him?
“I know Terry from down in Canberra, we were playing in the local comp together at the Queanbeyan Blues. I was playing in the juniors there and he was obviously playing first grade there doing a little bit of coaching as well. Made my first grade debut with Terry and then played with him I think 2 years there, yeah he was running amuck in the local comp carving up… Best player in the comp hahahahaha!

What’s your preferred position?
“I can play wing, centre or fullback. I probably prefer fullback although there’s a lot of running these days. I’d say I take a lot of strong carries, have quick play the balls and I’m decently fast.”
Have you set any goals for 2025?
I want to play at least 75% of games. Obviously I didn’t have the best of years with my injury this year but I back my ability to get in that starting team and yeah go from there.
What’s keeping you busy off the field?
I have a clothing brand it’s called Victorious Apparel Co, so basically street wear. I’m just documenting the journey of that on youtube and I also have my own you tube channel as well, Joseph Delle 03. Just documenting the rugby league journey of trying to make it to the top.”
