HOSTPLUS CUP SIDE FOR JETS MATCH & U21 TEAM FOR CLYDESDALES CLASH

Tuesday, July 4, 2023

Aaron Payne has named the same side which drew with the Dolphins, to take on Ipswich in round 17 of the Hostplus Cup. The visitors anticipate they’ll be without Jack Gosiewski though with the forward likely to be suspended after being sent off in Redcliffe. Riley Price has served his ban and the Cowboys could offer him as an option later in the week, while the coach hopes fellow prop Cade Maloney is well enough to play.

“Yeah I’m pretty confident we’ll get Riley back, we’ll wait and see but hopefully so. He’s probably been our most consistent player this season along with Cade, who unfortunately missed last weekend with Gastro.

Payne was wrapped with Kyle Feldt’s attitude after being dropped from the NRL and the winger will get another chance to push for his first grade recall while North Queensland has a bye.

“He didn’t just dip his toe in the water, he put his whole foot in and really led from the front in his actions and also using his voice. He looked like an NRL regular dropping back and I’m sure that’s what Todd Payten wants to see while he’s with us.

Taniela Sadrurgu and Gehamat Shibasaki also impressed returning from injury.

“Yeah I thought both of them were strong playing limited minutes. They both pulled up really well so expect them to have more game time this weekend.”

The Mendi Blackhawks will be chasing a seventh straight triumph over the Jets. Their winning streak started in 2018, Townsville’s latest victory came just last month at Jack Mansi Oval. Kick off is at 3pm. Our under 21s team to face the Clydesdales in round 12 of the Hastings Deering Colts clash is below.
