For round 6 of the Hostplus Cup, the Mendi Blackhawks host Tweed Seagulls at Jack Manski Oval for ANZAC Round.

The Mendi Blackhawks will be well rested after having two weeks off and Tweed Seagulls head into the clash with a strong win over Wynnum Manly Seagulls.

Tweed got the first points of the game through centre Lee Turner as he broke through defenders to score and the conversion by Lindon McGrady was unsuccessful.

The Mendi Blackhawks were able to quickly hit back after forcing an error on the restart allowing Robert Derby to score and the conversion by Thomas Duffy was successful.

Tweed found an opening through an unmarked Kaleb Ngamanu who scored in the corner and the conversion attempt by McGrady was successful.

Zac Laybutt was able to score to level the scores and the conversion was successful by Duffy, giving the home side the lead.

Tweed were able to hit the front through Ryland Jacobs and the conversion was successful.

Mendi Blackhawks Thomas Duffy kicked a penalty goal on the stroke of half time to close the gap and the halftime score stood at 16-14 in favour of the Tweed Seagulls.

Tweed Seagulls were able to hold the Mendi Blackhawks out with a man down due to Jacob McCudden was sent to the sin bin.

Mendi Blackhawks enforcer Patrick Kaufusi was able to get his team in front by winning the chase to a kick to score and Duffy was able to add the extras.

Mendi Blackhawks Robert Derby dazzled the opposition with his speed to grab his second try of the day and the conversion was successful.

Tweed began their comeback through Will Brimson who scored in the corner to bring the difference to a converted try but the conversion was unsuccessful.

Tweed were able to score through Kaleb Ngamanu due to an overlap and the conversion by McGrady was successful to lock the scores with 6 minutes left.

Tweed Seagulls were able to snatch the win with a successful penalty goal by Lindon McGrady in the final moments of the game.

The final score for the match was 28-26 with Tweed Seagulls taking the points.

To add to the Mendi Blackhawks loss, centre Gehamat Shibasaki left the field with an injury in the first half and Patrick Kaufusi was placed on report.

The Mendi Blackhawks will host the South Logan Magpies for round 7.
