The Mendi Blackhawks have successfully completed their first week of training for all three teams for 2020, at Jack Manski Oval.

Fresh from pre-season training with the North Queensland Cowboys, Temone Power said he is excited to be back for season 2020.

“It’s great to see everyone again and kick start the new season,” Power said.

“For me personally, the break gave me time to prepare mentally and physically and I’ve come back refreshed and ready to go.”

“It’s only the first week back, but training has been good and I’m excited to see what we bring to the field.”

“And it’s good to finally sweat off all the Christmas food.”

Head Coach Aaron Payne said he has been happy with how the teams have returned.

“It’s great to have the full squads back,” Payne said.

“The boys have done everything I asked from them over the break, which is pleasing.”

“We have done our fitness testing and skin folds and right across the board the guys were pretty much the same or similar.”

“It’s a good indicator of the professionalism amongst the group.”

“This week has been a revision of what we did before Christmas, but next week we focus more on sets and structures,”

“We will also be sitting down as a group and setting some goals for the year.”

The Mendi Blackhawks first trials for all 3 teams will be held in Bowen on February 15 followed by Cairns on February 22.
