The Townsville Mendi Blackhawks ISC team are pumped for this weekend’s first trial game of 2017, and have named their team to play this weekend in Cairns, against the Northern Pride.

Coach Kristian Woolf, is looking forward to seeing the boys back on the field, especially those returning after injury.

“We still have a couple of guys in our injured squad, but so far we are on track to have them back before the regular season begins,” Woolf said.

Woolf is most excited to welcome back guys including Temone Power who is returning to the field after having 12 months off with knee surgery.

“Temone unfortunately did his knee in the second trial match last year hasn’t played since, so he is really looking forward to playing this weekend.”

“We want to use this trial match to get some full body contact and running in the boys legs, to help get them match fit for once the regular season begins.”

“They just can’t wait to get back on the field.”

The Under 18 and Under 20 Townsville Mendi sides will also travel to Cairns for their second trial game of the year, after a great first hit out against the Mackay Cutters last week.

The first game kicks off at 4pm, at the home of the current CDRL premiers, Ivanhoes.
