Palm Island welcomes Mendi Blackhawks

The Palm Island community hosted the Townsville & Districts Mendi Blackhawks over the weekend for a preseason training camp.
The Mendi Blackhawks players and staff travelled to Palm Island by ferry on Friday and camped overnight at Wallaby Point.
Upon arrival, the team walked to the Council office where they were welcomed by Mayor Alfie Lacey.
Three Palm Island local players Isaac Bulsey, Calvin Castors and Gresham Ross trained with the Blackhawks squad.
Thank you to the Palm Island community for hosting the Townsville Mendi Blackhawks, coming out and showing their support to the players, and especially for treating the boys to a traditional feed on Friday night!
