Blackhawks go down to Souths Logan

Tuesday, July 5, 2016

It was a difficult day at the office for the Townsville & District Mendi Blackhawks on Sunday as they went down to the Souths Logan Magpies by 18 points at Davies Park in Brisbane.

With plenty of missing troops the Mendi Blackhawks were forced to play with many players out of position. Despite welcoming back Michael Parker-Walshe and Noel Underwood, the lack of consistency got the better of the visitors as the young Broncos players at the Magpies dominated the match.

The Mendi Blackhawks looked the better team towards the end of the first half and went into the break trailing by only two points 14-12. They had plenty of attacking opportunities in the second half and made the home side work hard to hold them out.

But the second half comeback wasn’t to be as the Magpies outstanding defense held the Mendi Blackhawks scoreless in the second stanza.

This weekend will be the Mendi Blackhawks first bye of the season and the team will be hoping to enjoy the hard earned rest and welcome some players back from injury in Round 19.
