Blackhawks win Cyril Connell Cup Quarter Final
Sunday, April 24, 2016
The Townsville Blackhawks Cyril Connell Cup side have today defeated the Victorian side 30-14 in the Quarter Final at Jack Manski Oval in Townsville.
The Blackhawks went into half time with a narrow 18-14 lead after both sides scored three tries a piece in the first forty minutes.
The Victorian side looked sharp in attack as they broke through the home side’s defence twice in seven minutes after the Blackhawks scored the first try of the match.
The game could have gone either way in the second half but it was the Blackhawks who turned up the heat on their opposition preventing them from scoring any further points.
Fullback McKenzie Baker was almost unstoppable when running the ball and Jacson Lott scored himself a pair of tries, one coming in each half.
It was an impressive second half from the young Blackhawks side who gave their home fans something to cheer about with some classy tries and hard hitting defence.
The Blackhawks will next week take on the Toowoomba Clydesdales in the Semi Final match with full times and venues for the semi finals to be announced on QRL.com.au later this week.
