Making Connections with the Australian Army Aviation Unit

Thursday, November 13, 2014

On the 5th of November the team behind the Blackhawks were lucky enough to visit the 5th Aviation Regiment, the Australian Army Aviation unit based at the Townsville RAAF base.

We were very lucky to have Lieutenant Colonel Dave Hafner, Commanding Officer of the 5th Aviation Regiment give the group a fantastic VIP tour. We were able to sit in the cockpit of a Black Hawk, a CH-47 Chinook and also the MRH-90. Some of the team even experienced flight simulation – battle lines were drawn and some of the team were better at piloting the CH-47F flight simulator than others!

As we endeavour to develop a brand that is forever tied to the rich defence force history of our home base in Townsville we feel that it is imperative to form a strong partnership with the Australian Army in order to engage both the defence force personnel and the North Queensland community.  We feel our values of team work and commitment closely align with those of the defence force and we can see many different opporutnities for us to work closely with the unit in the coming years.

We look forward to developing close ties with the 5 Aviation Regiment moving forward and are very grateful for our opportunity to experience these amazing aircraft up close.
